History- Lacilleas Christina de Sade was born 25 years before the start of the French Revolution to a wealthy aristocrat and his wife on February 12 in Paris. Adored by her father, she always had the best in life. The finest clothes, pretty jewelry, and even her own personal servant to attend to her every whim. Life was good, and she always eyed the peasants with a distasteful eye as their coach passed through the lesser sections of town. However, her life would change one day while walking through the rose gardens with her Governess. While listening to a lecture on Britain in the 17 century, the cook’s handsome son, Xavier, caught her eye. Lacilleas, now a striking thirteen years old, watched as the boy carried a pile of firewood at his mother’s heels. After a few days, she got brave and approached him, but he ignored her advances. After trying and failing a few more times, she gave up. He passed out of her life like many of her suitors.
Lacilleas family went into hiding after the Revolution began, and they were able to hide from the revolutionaries for a year before they rousted her family out of their hiding place near Versailles. Lacilleas’ hands were bound by ropes, and she was paraded around like a dog in front of the revolutionaries that came to see the newly captured. Her hair unkempt, her face dirty, and wearing nothing more than a grey burlap sack that was supposed to cover her, she saw Xavier again. There he was, jeering at her and her family as if he had never seen them before. Lacilleas watched him, and suddenly he stopped screaming. Recognition crept over his face, and their eyes locked. Unspoken words passed between them, and then she was pushed roughly into the black cart that was to take them to the prison.
After spending several days at the jail, Lacilleas knew her time was coming. She had watched as her mother and father had been hauled to the guillotine, and she knew that she was going to be next. Dawn was coming, and she could hear the jailors laughing at what they were going to do to her. She was nothing but a prisoner, and soon she wouldn’t have to worry about saving herself for her husband. In fact, she heard one of them remark, “Hell, she should be glad we are not letting her die a virgin.” Caught in her misery and crying, she didn’t even hear the scuffle that occurred outside of the prison door. The great wooden door opening at the end of the block was her death bell, and she was preparing to block out the feeling of the men’s rough hands on her porcelain skin and their rancid, hot breath on her neck.
“Lacilleas?” A voice asked questioningly. She looked up and saw her savior, Xavier, standing at the bars. Rushing to the bars, there hands met. He looked good in a blue jacket with brown leather breeches. He let her out of her cage, and they escaped into the night together. Once they reached safety, he explained to her why he came for her. Apparently, he had been thinking about her for years. He had actually forgotten about her, but seeing her in the square had reignited his lost feelings. Of course, the wonderful news came with a dark side. He also explained to her that he had become one of night’s guardians two years before, and he wanted her to follow him into the night. Lacilleas agreed, and they were married the next night. The change occurred on the night of their honeymoon, and they were allowed to live happily ever after for a few short years.
Xavier’s human friends soon figures out what the couple were. They came to their home one night in Paris, and staked both of them in their sleep. Lacilleas was thrown into a box while Xavier was was left in the house. As the mob walked away with Lacilleas, they set the house on fire. Xavier perished in the flames.
Lacilleas was placed on a boat to a French Stronghold in the New World. She woke dazed and confused in a church several months later. Hungry for blood, she looked around the new Cathedral. The only man that was there was a Bishop in scarlet robes standing behind an alter, with a picture of the Virgin Mary behind him. Her rage seemed to calm as she looked at the picture of the Virgin, and she was able to focus in on the man’s words. “I’m glad that you could join me. Do you know where you are?” Tears of blood began to run down her face as he explained to her the death of her husband, her travel to the new world, and what she was there for. “I had been watching your husband for a long time, and then you came. I knew that I could not subdue him, but you were a different story. I understand that you have found the secret to everlasting life, and I want you to give it to me.” Letting her bloodlust take over, she attacked the bishop. She drained every last drop of blood out of his body as he lay dying in her arms.
Lacilleas became content to enjoy her life as a New Orleans socialite, and began to dig her way to the top of the social calendar. However, the times were changing, and she changed with them. Dropping her archaic name in the early twentieth century, she became just Alice Sade. As Dracula and his brides grew in power, many of the vampires began to rebel against them. Just like the peasants and her time, Alice began to fight against the aristocrats that controlled her world. When Marishka was installed as the so called Queen of New Orleans, Alice vowed to save her beloved home from the evil woman. Leading a band of rebels, named by Marishka as The Misfits, they fight to save the city from Dracula, and to keep their world secret from the humans that would fear them if they knew they existed.
